Tischer expands dealer network
Cabin dealers now also in Spain and Turkey
Kreuzwertheim/Düsseldorf. Tischer exports 41 percent of its cabins on an annual average. Trend for the first half of 2018: rising to around 45%. Both at the CSD trade fair stand in Düsseldorf and when looking at the Facebook fan community, it becomes clear that the flexible drop-off cabs for pick-ups have fans all over Europe. Tischer has now drawn the necessary conclusions and expanded its dealer network by one partner in Spain and one in Turkey.
Regionally rooted – with a European focus
Huesca is located at the foothills of the Pyrenees. This vacation region of Aragon is home to the caravan dealer “Tinkervan”, which will be serving the Spanish market for Tischer with immediate effect. In Turkey, this task is performed by “U Caravan” – within walking distance of the sea and just outside Istanbul. Both retailers have been in business for several years and know their local customers inside out. In this way, the cooperation quickly becomes a win-win-win situation: Tischer expands its sales area and can fall back on existing contacts, the local dealer expands its portfolio with quality “Made in Germany” and opens up a new target group, and pick-up fans all over Europe can upgrade their favorite with a high-quality vacation option.
Tischer selects his partners very carefully. “Of course, it’s great that our cabins are well received all over Europe. But we have to be sure that our name and the quality of our products are represented with expertise and professionalism,” explains company boss Peter Tischer. Over the years, a network of dealers has developed that includes a further 13 in Europe in addition to the six German partners. These cover the following countries: Austria, Switzerland, France, Great Britain, Belgium, Netherlands, Sweden, Iceland, Slovenia, Serbia, Croatia, Czech Republic, Russia, Turkey, Spain. Occasionally, drop-off cabins are also shipped to other continents, but logistically the effort is currently still too great to institutionalize this. “We keep getting inquiries from non-European dealers who would like to become our partners – especially from South America. But we know where our primary markets are and we have to be present in these with consistent quality,” says Peter Tischer, clarifying the focus. The need to adapt the cabins when country-specific regulations come into play should also not be underestimated. Tischer makes these necessary changes directly in production in Kreuzwertheim. They mainly concern the storage spaces for the gas cylinders, which must be dimensioned differently from country to country. In the UK, for example, there are also the familiar 230V sockets. For the Swiss, on the other hand, the focus is more on the underride guard and the appropriate side lighting.
Tischer for everyone – everyone for Tischer
The very first foreign Tischer dealer also came from the canton of Zurich: Pi’s Ranch. However, after many decades, nobody knows how this was acquired by Tischer: “‘Pi’s Ranch’ in Dietlikon was the first foreign agency we had. My father had established this contact, but unfortunately we don’t know any more about it today. What we do know, however, is that it was the impetus for a slow but steady expansion of our export business,” summarizes Peter Tischer. Sales figures fluctuate, but the sales winner in the first half of 2018 is Uwe Hollenbacher (“Tischer Süd”), a German dealer. He is followed by the agencies in France (“Müller Tuning”) and Iceland (“Rotor ehf”). This expresses the fact that the German market is certainly the most important for Tischer. But other European countries follow directly behind. Everything comes together in Kreuzwertheim, where all the cabins are produced. And maybe all Tischer dealers will get to know each other there, because the company is toying with the idea of organizing a meeting. “We’ve been planning a campaign like this for some time, but of course it’s a huge effort in terms of scheduling and organization. In any case, the retailers are interested,” says Peter Tischer. Perhaps things will work out in the coming years – and then with a network that has grown even further.
