Rising star at the Tischer stand
X-Class with full air suspension and TRAIL 230S delights pick-up fans
Kreuzwertheim/Düsseldorf. It was a whisper and a murmur at the Caravan Salon 2017. The star of the midsize pick-up segment is the 2018 X-Class. For the first time, the “Mercedes among pick-ups” can also be seen at the Tischer stand in Hall 12. A TRAIL 230S makes itself comfortable on its loading area. It is the first drop-off cabin ever to be piggybacked by an X-Class and it still cuts a fine figure on it. 45 years of experience in cabin construction and structural advantages have therefore made Tischer an important strategic partner for Daimler. The Kreuzwertheim-based company currently has the widest range of living cabins for the X-Class on the market.
Bedded on (air) springs
Eight cab types from Tischer fit the X-Class: 200, 220, 230/230S, 240 – each in the TRAIL and BOX versions. The advantage of the Tischer cabs over models from other manufacturers is that only the tailgate of the loading area needs to be removed. The side panels remain unchanged. This reduces the effort and retains as much of the elegant look as possible. The long wheelbase of 3,150 millimetres and the wide track of the X-Class ensure that it has great stability. This not only has a positive effect on handling, but also makes them ideal for carrying a cabin on their shoulders.
However, comfort should not be neglected. That’s why Tischer will soon be offering a full air suspension for the Mercedes. Since the pick-up’s center of gravity is higher than that of an ordinary car and the load condition can vary greatly, individually adjustable full air springs are a blessing. The suspension can be continuously adjusted via the wired remote control – either when stationary or at speeds of up to 30 km/h. In this way, Tischer helps the X-Class off its knees even when the permissible gross weight is being utilized, increasing driving pleasure and improving safety at the same time. Why float along when you can glide towards your vacation on air?
V6 powerhouse spearheads the four-cylinder engines
Powerfully striving forward is also the motto of the new V6. The X-Class with 258 hp and 550 Newton meters of torque has only been available since summer 2018. A real announcement in the pick-up warehouse! The X 350 d also comes with the seven-speed 7GTronic automatic transmission and permanent all-wheel drive as standard. The 4×4 chassis of the X-Class is currently one of the best available for a pick-up and suggests that it was modeled on the company’s own G-Class. Inside, the X-Class promises value on a new level: optimized background noise as in a large saloon, ergonomically shaped comfort seats and the intelligent networking “Mercedes me connect” set standards for midsize pick-ups. At this point, Tischer and the X-Class are once again a good match: Innovative solutions for even more comfort and design, wherever tar and bulkheads may lead.
