Special guest: VW Bulli T2 with the very first Tischer living cabin
Tischer brings its origins to the Caravan Salon for its 45th anniversary
Kreuzwertheim/Düsseldorf. The Caravan Salon is the annual showcase for all the latest innovations in the industry. Sometimes, however, it is not looking forward but looking back that releases new energy. Tischer is celebrating its 45th anniversary in 2018 and is therefore bringing a real rarity to Düsseldorf: the very first Tischer living cabin on a VW Bulli T2. It is the nucleus from which the company’s highly successful history has developed. Under the motto “Pickup the dream”, trade fair visitors can be transported back to the 70s. Stand B30 in Hall 12 will thus become a time machine. “When I was a young man, I used to take this T2 to festivals. There’s a lot of emotion in it,” explains company boss Peter Tischer.
Bulli meets X-Class
Of course, there is not only nostalgia, but also plenty of powerful pick-up trucks at Tischer. Ford Ranger, VW Amarok, Nissan Navara, Isuzu Big-Max (double cab with extended loading area) and Dodge RAM will be sharing the stand with the new X-Class for the first time. The Mercedes concept will be on show with a TRAIL 230S and full air suspension. Tischer recently had the latter installed in the vehicle in order to improve the load and stabilize the chassis. The X-Class caused quite a stir when it was launched last year, as Mercedes was the first premium manufacturer to enter the growing pick-up market. Tischer is offering four matching drop-down cabins for the X-Class at the Caravan Salon – each in the TRAIL and BOX versions. This represents the widest range of drop-off cabs for the Mercedes on the market. Tischer regularly scrutinizes the cabs themselves as part of the model maintenance process. There are also detailed improvements this 2018.
Good things get even better
First of all, the Tischer technicians worked on the heating system. More specifically, the heating concept has been revised to ensure optimized air distribution in the cab. A real plus on cool nights and in cold regions. Tischer also provides all living cabins (except the TRAIL/BOX 280) with an aluminum swivel table as standard. This was previously an optional accessory. Company boss Peter Tischer comments: “We are often asked by our fans about little things that make camper life much easier. The swivel table is a robust and space-saving solution that we are now offering at no extra charge.” At the Caravan Salon, interested visitors can also get an idea of another series improvement: The bathrooms in all cabins now have a water-repellent sliding door that runs alongside the wall when open. It was initially only reserved for the TRAIL/BOX 240 and is now replacing the swing door in all models as planned.
Pure luxury, if you take a look inside the cabin from 1973. It had neither a bathroom nor any other amenities up to today’s standards. And yet she and the van are the secret stars of the trade fair stand, because she has a unique character that is closely linked to the Tischer company. Visitors to the Caravan Salon can meet him in person in Hall 12, Stand B30. The Tischer team is looking forward to exciting days and good discussions.
