- Tischer offers suitable set-down cabins for the X-Class
- Cooperation at the CMT: X-Class with TRAIL 230S at the Mercedes stand
Kreuzwertheim/ Stuttgart. It was already a hot topic in the exhibition halls at the Caravan Salon: Mercedes’ market entry into the pick-up segment. Accompanied by a large-scale advertising campaign, the X-Class saw the light of day shortly afterwards. It is now being presented to camping fans for the first time at the CMT. So that they can use the new premium pick-up for their favorite hobby right from the start, Tischer, as the market leader, immediately offers suitable drop-off cabins. The X-Class with a TRAIL 230S will be on display at the Mercedes stand. Both are united by the aspiration to combine design and comfort with functionality and off-road character.
Tischer and the X-Class: the greatest common denominator
The long wheelbase of 3,150 millimeters and the comparatively wide track of the X-Class ensure that the pickup pushes its power powerfully onto the ground and has excellent lateral dynamics. As a result, the vehicle runs reliably in a straight line, corners safely and has a stability that is predestined for piggybacking a cabin. The combination of X-Class and Tischer TRAIL 230S promises to be one of the crowd-pullers at the Mercedes CMT stand.
In addition to the new star in the pick-up sky, Tischer impresses with its well-known quality: a well thought-out space concept, high-quality materials, easy handling and “Made in Germany” craftsmanship have always been among the strengths of the drop-off cabs. They enable individual comfort at the vacation destination and maximum flexibility when using the vehicle. “Motorhomes and caravans are often too bulky and expansive to allow truly unlimited freedom when planning a vacation. Our cabins are compact, offer everything campers need and can be detached if required,” explains owner Peter Tischer. The ideas behind the living cabin and the X-Class are quite comparable, as the aim is to combine familiar comfort with individual wanderlust, the Tischer boss continued.
For example, despite its compact size, the TRAIL 230S offers a comfortable sleeping system in the alcove with a width of 150 cm, a headroom of almost two meters, a kitchen with a three-burner gas hob and three comfortable seats. The latter can be converted into a second bed in a few simple steps. The integrated bathroom is easy to clean and has plenty of space for showering thanks to the large, foldable washbasin and swivel toilet. The sandwich construction of the cabin parts in turn ensures reliable stability and excellent insulation properties. Sophisticated storage spaces in the bathroom and living area provide space for all kinds of small essentials. In this way, Tischer has been impressing customers for over 40 years with detail work that is unparalleled on the market – and this is now entering into a promising symbiosis with the new X-Class.
X-Class – birth under a good star
Mercedes sets out with the self-image of setting standards in the market. This is demonstrated by the appearance of the new addition to the Mercedes portfolio: Thanks to the central star, two-slat radiator grille, powerful hood and headlights that extend far into the fenders, the design is strongly reminiscent of the brand’s SUV models. The exterior thus conveys purist elegance, which does not contradict the striking appearance of a pick-up. This reflects the changing use of pick-ups: they are intended to be functional, but also lifestyle vehicles. Mercedes has therefore given the X-Class three equipment lines: PURE, PROGRESSIVE and POWER. The basic PURE version is suitable for classic, robust use, PROGRESSIVE for higher demands in terms of value and comfort, and POWER is the high-end version.
Individualization plays a major role in the X-Class: Mercedes offers its customers nine exterior colors, a wide range of exclusive wheel rims and the greatest variety of materials and colours in the midsize pickup segment. Buyers can also purchase a wide range of accessories. Pick-up fans get their money’s worth here.
In addition to visual influences, many typical Mercedes comfort functions have also found their way into the X-Class: for example, the X-Class offers an optimized background noise level similar to that of a large saloon. Ergonomically shaped comfort seats and coil springs with a pleasant spring/damper set-up make even long trips on vacation a “ride on clouds”. The intelligent connectivity is also conducive to comfort: thanks to “Mercedes me connect”, the X-Class is capable of Europe-wide door-to-door navigation, among other things.
But the X-Class is also a fully-fledged pick-up truck off the road, as its engine knows how to impress with its power. A 163 hp and a 190 hp common-rail diesel are available from market launch – selectable “4MATIC” all-wheel drive is optional for the diesel models. The V6 diesel will then follow in mid-2018. Five driving programs also change the character of the engine as desired, for example to “Offroad” or “Sport”. The X-Class delivers this power on tar and gravel at all times, making it the perfect substructure for skip cabs – and the collaboration with Tischer was a logical step.
