Tischer presents living cabin in body color for the first time
Kreuzwertheim/ Düsseldorf. It was the star of the Tischer stand at the Caravan Salon: a Ford Ranger in bright orange. Even from a distance, the powerful car attracted the attention of trade fair visitors. But it wasn’t until they were on site that the new feature caught the eye: the TRAIL 260SD on the Ranger’s shoulders was painted in the color of the vehicle. Expression of a self-image: pick-up and living cabin form a single unit.

What at first sounds unspectacular has never happened before in the more than 40 years of Tischer’s company history. “It was the customer’s explicit wish to create this colorful interplay between the van and cabin. So it wasn’t about a show effect for the Caravan Salon, but about an exciting further development of our manufacturing concept,” explains Peter Tischer. Until now, Tischer’s cabins have been white or silver. However, the market is now also looking for customization options due to the overall increase in interest in caravanning. More and more pick-up drivers are discovering the leisure options offered by the combination of car and drop-off cab. But they also want to set their own priorities. As Tischer living cabins have always been manufactured by hand and individually, the company can meet special requests with comparative ease. It is not expected that the majority of motorhome cabins will be delivered in body color in the future, but the proportion of motorhome owners who want to give their cabins a matching paint job could well increase.
Back in the summer of ’69
Even though the idea for this unusual vehicle design did not come from Tischer itself, the company certainly knew how to use the “pop effect” of the vehicle to its advantage: Based on the colorful appearance of the Ranger, the entire trade fair stand radiated the theme “Love, Peace & Pick-Ups”. Large banners and garlands in a colorful floral look, appropriate clothing for the stand figures and humorous accessories played with the memories of the stand guests. When entering the orange-colored TRAIL 260SD, some felt transported back in time: thanks to the bluish-turquoise seat bench and cushion covers with floral patterns, retro bedding and small details, the 60s/70s found their way into the cabin interior. In terms of technology, the cabin is of course state of the art, which resulted in an interesting break. This contrasts with the absolute color symbiosis between cabin and vehicle exterior. Judging by the number of visitors to the stand, the topic was well received and attracted the desired attention. It remains to be seen to what extent the living area in the color of the vehicle can make a mark on the market.
