Family reunion with a panoramic view of the Alps
Record: around 270 pickup campers at the 21st Tischer meeting at Bannwaldsee
Kreuzwertheim/ Bannwaldsee. The first rays of sunshine make their way over the Alps, illuminating the valley and coating the clear lake with the sparkle of day. Scenes like this make campers’ hearts beat faster. The participants at this year’s Tischer meeting were able to enjoy this. Around 270 Tischer fans gathered at Bannwaldsee in Bavaria for the 21st edition from May 10-13.
Tischer team up close and active exchange in the fan community
Old and young, Tischer veterans and novices, adventurers and those seeking peace and quiet – a wide variety of people come together at the annual Tischer meeting. But they all have one thing in common: they are proud owners of a Tischer drop-off cab for their pickup. Each of them has already experienced a lot in their mobile home and enthusiastically shares this with like-minded people. It is not uncommon for technical problems to be solved, new travel destinations to be fixed and insider tips to be passed on during this exchange. If the fan community can’t solve the problem themselves, a representative of the Tischer team will be happy to take care of it. According to company boss Peter Tischer, however, it is not about business. The focus is clearly on the fun of a shared camping experience. “At the Tischer meeting, the boundaries between ‘customer’ and ‘acquaintance’ become blurred. We have known most of the participants for many years and have developed real friendships with some of them,” explains Peter Tischer.
Skip cabins from Tischer as far as the eye can see
The cabin friends appreciate this closeness to the Tischer team and so the number of participants grows significantly once again. Peter Tischer comments: “The 270 participants this year are striking despite the size of the campsite. When I consider that we started in 1997 with around 50 vehicles and around 100 guests, this development is gigantic.” The extended weekend is deliberately not packed with a program, but allows the participants to develop according to their personal taste each year. Personal taste is also a good keyword when wandering back and forth between the pickups. Many cabin owners have made adaptations over the years and so there are plenty of individual curiosities alongside almost historic models. However, as the drop-down cabins have the eponymous function of being able to drop off the cabin at the vacation destination and use the vehicle to its full extent, these conversions fit the bill perfectly.
Tischer meetings: shared experiences and individual short breaks
But there is more to see than just at the campsite. This year’s day trip took the participants to the famous ski jump in Garmisch, the pilgrimage site of Ettal Abbey and the quaint alleyways of Oberammergau. On the following day, the participants of the meeting were able to go on their own exploratory tours, for example to the royal castles in Schwangau or to Füssen. Others preferred to visit the lake by rowing boat or pedal boat. For active bikers, the nearby Alps also offered one or two challenges. Another Tischer meeting came to an end at a big party on the last evening, with satisfaction dominating the scene. Peter Tischer summarizes: “It is a great privilege to have such a direct, personal connection to our customers. We want to maintain this in the future and are therefore already looking forward to 2019.”
