Around 200 pick-up campers at the 22nd Tischer meeting in the Baltic seaside resort of Thiessow on Rügen
Thiessow/KreuzwertheimTheBaltic seaside resort of Thiessow on the south-eastern tip of Rügen towers majestically over the sea. The sun dips into the reddish waters in the evening, while the sound of the sea and the fresh breeze create a very special atmosphere. From May 30 to June 2, around 200 Tischer fans enjoyed this natural spectacle during the 22nd edition of the Tischer Treffen.
Weekend among like-minded people
Rügen lies quietly in the Baltic Sea and yet the island attracted numerous pick-ups and camper vans on May 30. The annual Tischer meeting was coming up. An event where employees and cabin fans come together to share their passion for pick-up camping with like-minded people. Each of them has their very own travel stories in their luggage, which not only serve as entertainment, but also provide inspiration for the next adventure. It is not uncommon to find real insider tips and interesting off-road destinations this way. Technical problems are also discussed and the community or a Tischer employee is happy to provide advice on how to solve them. “It is important to us to create a shared camping experience within a family setting and a place for lively exchange. This creates a sense of community, which is very important to us as a medium-sized family business – even beyond the annual meetings,” says company boss Peter Tischer.
Pure variety: historical treasures and modern gems
The pick-ups and cabins of the 200 or so participants certainly made for colorful eye-catchers at the campsite in the Baltic seaside resort of Thiessow. Peter Tischer: “After last year’s trip to Bavaria, on the edge of the Alps, this year we made the journey to the far north. We are delighted that so many customers found their way here to spend the days with us. The sight of all the different cabins and pick-ups is incredible every time and fills me and the entire Tischer team with pride.” Variety is a good keyword: on a tour of the campsite, it was noticeable that no two mobile homes are the same. From old, almost historic-looking cabs and pick-ups to the latest models, many of which were also individually designed, there was a favorite piece for every viewer.
With a nostalgic steam locomotive and adventurous swell
Once again this year, a special day trip was on the agenda – the steamboat crossing from Baabe to Lauterbach and the subsequent nostalgic trip on the steam locomotive not only made the participants feel the swell, but also provided all kinds of maritime topics of conversation. Peter Tischer: “We organize a day trip every year to get together away from the campsite. This year it was the trip on the steamboat, as we had to take advantage of the close proximity to the sea.” In addition to the day trip, it is also important to give the participants enough time for their own activities in order to create a combination of joint and individual vacations. Saturday was therefore free for all participants. While the nature lovers explored the nearby Mönchgut nature reserve by bike, other participants went on a tour of Rügen in their pick-up truck in order to enjoy the evening once again.
to meet up with all Tischer fans for dinner and reminisce about their experiences. Peter Tischer concluded: “It’s always great to see how the Tischer community supports each other with help and advice and how every member is an asset. I speak for the entire Tischer team when I say that this year’s meeting was also a complete success and we are looking forward to next year’s event.”
